Read Time:4 Minute, 1 Second

‘Resolute’. ‘Undaunted’. ‘Staunch’. These are words one would associate with leaders, especially those who hold the power to affect many lives. These words and many more positives have been used to describe the Honourable David Olumide Aderinokun in his drive for change.

David Olumide Aderinokun is a beacon of hope to the people of Ogun Central Senatorial District.

Born in Lagos on  August 18, 1971, he had his primary and secondary education at Abati Nursery and Primary School, Papa-Ajao, and Mushin Boys High School, Isolo. He then proceeded to the University of East London, where he obtained a B.Sc (Hons) in Business Studies.

Before going into politics, Olumide Aderinokun was into real estate, where he specialised in joint venture projects. As a business mogul, he had interest in high technology and farming. Aderinokun ventured into politics in 2011 under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost his bid to represent Abeokuta North Constituency as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives.

Undeterred, he tried again on October 3, 2018, and he won the primaries to represent Abeokuta North Constituency. He has continued to be a source of goodwill and a human asset to the people of Ogun Central District across all its six local governments.

Olumide Aderinokun is an embodiment of hope and light to the people of the Ogun Central District. He has commissioned seventeen boreholes across the district so far. He has completed three phases of free petroleum products distribution for motorcycle riders across all six local governments in the Central District of Ogun State. These are some of the things Aderinokun has done for the people of Obafemi Owode, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ewekoro, Ifo, and Odeda.

Being a relentless and dogged man full of compassion and care, the people of Ogun Central District can only imagine how much more he would do in 2023, as he vies once again for a seat at the Ogun State Senatorial House.

Having been conferred a chieftaincy title as the Akinruyiwa of Owu Kingdom, Olumide Aderinokun, now popularly called Chief Aderinokun and his wife, Stephanie Coker, an OAP and TV presenter at MTV Base Africa, created the Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Foundation (O&S Foundation). The foundation aims to help and empower people; its focus is on education, youth empowerment, non-interest loans and business funding for traders and students.

Chief Olumide Aderinokun has touched the lives of many people with his philanthropy. Through the O&S Foundation, he reached out to Adaranijo Akorede Azeez, a final year student of the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), giving him ₦50,000 to support his academic dreams.

In 2021, Chief Aderinokun paid a solidarity visit to the victims of the fire incident at Lafenwa market immediately after he returned from a business trip. He promised every affected trader a sum of ₦50,000 each – a promise which he  fulfilled within a week.

Through his NGO, he has organised free summer coaching for secondary school students, distributed free learning materials to primary school children, and granted scholarships to indigenous students in tertiary institutions. Olumide has also granted non-interest loans to traders.

The Akinruyiwa of the Owu Kingdom has done all these and more for the people of Ogun Central Senatorial District. Therefore, the indigenes unanimously believe that Chief Olumide has more in stock for them after the upcoming elections.

Olumide Aderinokun is a household name in the Ogun Central District community, and the people under the six LGAs can testify to his good works. He has shown several impressive instances of being a political leader. Politicking comes naturally to a man like Olumide, and his antecedents are proof that he is the right man for the job.

Olumide believes in serving humanity and making life easier for others by putting them first. He has continued to do this effortlessly – giving hope to the hopeless, helping the needy and being a torchbearer to humanity, especially his immediate community of Ogun State Central.

As the political analysis goes on and the clock ticks, the Ogun Central communities watch anxiously what the outcome of the 2023 elections will be. His acts of philanthropy might be a deciding factor in Ogun Central District

It does not matter what the rolling dice says when it stops rolling. David Olumide Aderinokun has proven himself, over time, to be a humanitarian before he is a politician. He understands the people’s needs and tends to them accordingly. He is the kind of man who needs not to be in the seat of power before he renders help.

Chief Olumide Aderinokun is happily married to Stephanie Coker, and they have a daughter together. He remains undeterred in his love and commitment to the people of Ogun Central District, and his passion for helping humanity remains solid.
