House Committees Subpoena US Secretary Of State, Pompeo Over Ukraine Documents
House Committees have subpoenaed United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo over his continuous unwillingness to release documents pertaining to POTUS, Donald Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.
This is coming on the back of the House’s commencement of impeachment inquiry of Trump.
Chairman of House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Adam Schiff, Chairman House Committee on Oversight and Reform and the Chairman, House Committee on Intelligence have all written to Pompeo.
”Pursuant to the House of Representatives Impeachment Inquiry, we are hereby transmitting a subpoena that compels you to produce the documents set forth in accompanying schedule by October 4, 2019.”
The documents were requested from Pompeo two weeks ago and he is yet to submit them to the House.
The chairman of the three committees wrote a letter to Pompeo on September 9 requesting for six categories of documents “related to reported efforts by President Trump and his associates to improperly pressure the Ukrainian government to assist the President’s bid for reelection.”
